The "Ferrovia dei Parchi", affectionately nicknamed the "Trans-Siberian Railway of Italy", is a spectacular route that leads to the discovery of small villages where history and local traditions are preserved by the local communities.
Meeting of participants at the agreed location and departure by GT bus in the direction of Abruzzo. In the evening, accommodation in hotel; dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Sulmona, the birthplace of Ovid, the poet of love. Free visit (and/or with qualified guide: on request). Subsequent departure for Scanno, along a road that crosses the wonderful Sagittario Gorge. Lunch in a restaurant. Visit to Scanno, a village immortalised in the lenses of many photographers. Free visit (and/or with a qualified guide: on request). During the excursion, tasting of the famous mostaccioli, Scanno's typical pastry. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Day dedicated to a train excursion on the "Trans-Siberian Railway of Italy". Already included in the 1910 Touring Club of Italy guidebook for its incredible touristic and engineering value, the line was inaugurated on 18 September 1897. Personalised and numbered seats and carriages. Panoramic route up the Conca Peligna to the slopes of the Majella, in the National Park area. With main stops during the day. Lunch in a mountain hut during the excursion. Return to Sulmona station. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
